Post Meets every 1st Monday of the month at the King's Arms
[From the Clarion]
The title -"Faith, in the Pub" - could confuse you. After all, just about every many who goes into a pub is showing some faith in what the place can do for him, if only to satisfy his thirst. So let's make it clear that this is an informal Christian discussion meeting, with a speaker discussing why his faith has helped him in some way and others discussing it.
There's no pressure on curious visitors to take part, though they can; no question of cajoling you to join in other church activities.
The October speaker was Don Gibbon, who spoke convincingly about a faith he didn't broadcast, but helped him immensley in times of stress. He stumbled across other people's belief almost by accident in conversation and they helped one another.
It's an unusual men-only group. Men only in this enlightened world? Apparently women are easier at talking to one another and there was a feeling men woudl appreciate a place to feel less inhibited and so could talk more freely. It certainly seemed to work here.
The next meeting is on Monday 1st November in the King's Arms, the regular venue. The speaker is a man who'll talk about selling in the automotive motorcycle industries. December's is a strongly self-motivated personal trainer with some showbiz background. Not much predictable in that eclectic mix.
In effect, it's a mens' discussion group with friendly atmosphere, no membership fee and no preaching. Definitely worth a try. And the beer's pretty good.
First Monday in the month at the KA. Try it.

Well, here we are in the 21st Century, thanks to Robert for getting us here. As Jim's comments describe, Faith in the Pub is an informal grouping of men, from the local area, who meet once a month to discover and discuss issues about faith. Almost by definition, the fact that you are reading this indicates that you already have a faith of some form, though we do have guys coming along who don't have a faith, Christian or any other, and they are a real boost to the group's discussions - they're very good at asking the awkward questions or offering a different perspective.
We meet, as Jim says, on the first Monday of the month at 8 pm in the Kings Arms in Cleobury. So far we have had guests come to chat about their Christian faith in a variety of situations e.g. a soldier, motor bike sales manager, conjuror and teacher. Our next meeting in December has a guy who has been part of the keep fit/modeling industry.
The beer is very good as are the sandwiches and it is good to be getting to know each other better, sharing ideas, experiences and each others company (both young and older).
For the regulars, perhaps you could invite someone to come with you next time who would like to find out more about men and their faith; if you're new we would really like to meet you.
If you have any ideas for discussion topics or know of a good speaker, please let me know, either through this medium or even old ways like the phone!
